EMAS in a Nutshell

EMAS (Eco-Management and Audit Scheme) is an environmental management scheme based on EU-Regulation 1221/2009.

 

EMAS Characteristics

There are five stakeholders:

 

  • Competent Bodies of the Member States: appointed by national environmental authorities in order to perform the registration process. (DIHK in Germany)

  • Accreditation/Licensing Bodies of the Member States: appointed by national environmental authorities in order to provide accreditation and supervision of environmental verifiers. (DAU in Germany)
